Entry doors that carry the same documentation standard as our windows.
Impact-rated fiberglass and steel entry doors, plus French door configurations — tested as full assemblies, not just a heavy-looking slab.
Materials & configurations
Fiberglass
Resists dents, doesn't rust, and can be painted or stained to mimic real wood grain. A strong fit for Florida's humidity and salt-air exposure closer to the coast, and widely available impact-rated as a full door-and-frame assembly.
Steel
Strong and typically the lower-cost option, with a foam core for insulation. More prone to denting than fiberglass and needs attention to any exposed edge in a humid climate, but a solid, cost-effective choice for many entries.
French Entry Doors
A pair of hinged doors, often with glass lites, used for a wider or more formal front entry. Available impact-rated, with the multi-point locking hardware tested as part of the full assembly — a detail that matters more here than on a single door.
Sidelights & Transoms
Glass panels flanking or above the main door. When impact-rated, these are tested and approved as part of the whole door unit — mixing a rated door with a non-rated sidelight defeats the point, which is why we document the full assembly, not just the door slab.
What installation looks like
1. Assess address & code status
We check your address against current wind-zone maps — see hurricane protection for the full breakdown.
2. Select material & configuration
Fiberglass, steel, single or French doors, sidelights — matched to your entry and budget.
3. Permit
We file with your local jurisdiction using the Florida Product Approval number for the exact assembly being installed.
4. Install
The old unit comes out, the rough opening is checked and prepped, the new door and frame are set per the manufacturer's tested installation instructions.
5. Final inspection & documentation
Your jurisdiction signs off, and you get the full paperwork packet for your records and your insurer.
Entry doors — common questions
It depends on your specific address relative to the Wind-Borne Debris Region and, rarely, the High-Velocity Hurricane Zone. Most inland Orlando/Orange County addresses fall outside both today. See our hurricane protection page for the full explanation, or ask us to check your address directly.
An impact-rated entry door assembly — including any glass lite and sidelights — has passed large-missile impact and cyclic-pressure testing as a full unit, and carries a Florida Product Approval number tying the tested door, frame, and glass together. A standard door hasn't been tested to that standard, no matter how solid it looks or feels.
Warranty terms vary by manufacturer and typically cover the door slab, frame, hardware, and labor separately, for different lengths of time. We give you the specific written warranty documents for your chosen product before you sign anything.
Financing is available in many cases, with terms that vary by lender and credit profile. See our financing page for general options.
